I have the honour to report that
the Manager of the Roman Catholic Grant-in-aid Schools
has applied for a grant towards the cost of certain al-
terations and repairs to "Rosehill' and of fitting up
and furnishing some of the new school-rooms.

acquired Rosehill" the property adjacent to the Convent.
The ground floor of the building is now used for, class-
rooms for the European Grant-in-aid School which is
conducted by the Sisters. An expenditure of a little
over $1,000 has been incurred of which an account shew-
ing the details is attached. The Manager forwarded it
without alteration to me with the remark that the
Government might perhaps think that some of the items
could not be taken into account in assessing the grant.
The expenditure on "two doors" and "passages' which is
connected with the dormitories, on "refectory and
dormitories" and on "bath-rooms &c. ought to be excluded
as it is for the boarders and not for the day-school.

If this is done there will remain a sum of $468.22 (of
